2 dead after crash in Halifax County, VSP says – WSET

Virginia State Police (VSP) said they are investigating a fatal crash in Halifax County.

The crash occurred on Wednesday, November 15 at 8:15 p.m. in the 1000 block of Howard Anderson Highway, according to VSP.

VSP said a 2006 GMC Envoy was traveling south on Howard Anderson Highway when it ran off the right shoulder. The vehicle overcorrected ran off the left side of the highway and hit several trees. The vehicle then overturned down an embankment.

The driver, Corey M. Wetmore, 28, of Brick, N.J., died at the scene, VSP said.

The passenger, Brittany A. Forsythe, 26, of Browns Mills, N.J., also died at the scene, VSP said.

According to VSP, neither was wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
